Rejuvenating Oatmeal Porridge
  • 1 cup dry oats
  • 2 cups/1 pt cold water
  • pinch of salt
  • ¼ cup raisins
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp ground ginger
  • ¼ tsp cardamom
  • Honey or maple syrup to taste
  1. Put the oats, water and salt in pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and add spices and raisins. Cover and cook on low for 5 to 10 minutes or until soft. Sweeten to taste. Add ghee when serving for extra nourishment. Oats are sweet and nutritive, rich in protein, minerals and vitamin A. They give strength and make an excellent nerve tonic. Nourishing winter food for vata and pitta.
